Big News! – Exciting new kid’s stationery shop products from Smudge

Over the last few months, we’ve been busy coming up with a number of new, exciting ranges which will make home schooling and going back to school (when that finally happens!) even more of an event. Fancy a backpack with a skull motif? Then you will love everything in the “Queen of Skulls” range. Or how about an otherworld animal skin print pencil case? We often get asked how we make such cool stuff, so before we tell you a bit more about these funky new ranges, let’s give you a bit of insight into our process.
How we make cool stationery and our other Smudge goodies
‘Make Your Mark’ is the Smudge moto as we believe every child is an individual and just waiting to explore their creativity. And to do that, they need cool, quality stationery to help them stand out from the crowd and stay ahead of the game.
That’s why, at Smudge, we don’t want to follow trends; we want to set them! We want all our products, from pencils to pencil cases, notebooks to backpacks, to be stylish, fun, practical and above all cool, which means we need to know about future trends in film, fashion, design, festivals and more. And we’re aren’t just talking about trends for 2021, but also for 2022-23! Just like the Smudge Gang – we want to stay ahead of the game and be followed rather than be just followers!
Once we’ve identified a number of future trends, we then work with our wonderful creative director in South Africa to come up with 5 ranges. Drawing inspiration from the natural world, her designs are quirky and cool making shortlisting them down to just 3 unbelievably difficult! But we got there and are really excited that they have now gone into production and will be launching soon.
